4-H Gears is a 4-H Club formed from members and leaders with the goal of designing, building and programming a large robot from raw materials for the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) Competition. This club meets weekly through the summer but more intensively from January through March to meet one or more of the many challenges presented to FRC community. Our club competes in the SW Pennsylvania competition which traditionally entails a Thursday, Friday and Saturday in March. The members must raise between $8000 – $12000 each year in order to participate in this competition. Although expensive, the 4-H members and leaders are exuberant about the life skills the youth learn when working on this project.
Each meeting starts with the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H Pledge. Our meetings are currently being held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 pm in New Alexandria, PA.
